CASA Parties!

Party for CASA in your CASA (Yes, it’s a play on words)!

Did you know that individuals, businesses and organizations can host fundraising parties and events in support of Memphis CASA?  Fundraising through “CASA Parties” is a great way to support CASA’s mission. A contribution, no matter how small or how large, makes a difference for the abused and neglected children waiting for CASA volunteers. And you can have fun while making a difference!

CASA Parties are community-driven and can take many forms, such as:

  • Holiday, Super Bowl, or dinner parties, and other house parties, where donations can be collected at the door or asked for during the party
  • Birthday, anniversary, or other celebrations where guests bring donations in lieu of gifts
  • Luncheon or casual dress days hosted by a company or one of its departments
  • Music concerts, black-tie events, or wine-tasting events

HOW IT WORKS

Host fills out the CASA Party Application and Contract, submits signed application, and receives approval.

A CASA Party event typically begins with an idea and plan of action that is presented to Memphis CASA. The group or individual completes and submits a signed application, available as a downloadable form here or from Memphis CASA’s Director of Development, Amber Norris. Although we actively encourage CASA Parties, all such parties must be approved by us in advance. This is an important safeguard to preserve the integrity of the CASA name.

Host will plan and schedule the party.

The CASA Party Toolkit includes a How-To Guide, FAQs, sample invitation, party ideas, sample sign-in sheet, and information about Memphis CASA for guests to take home. Memphis CASA also can provide your party with the following assistance:

  • Brochures and fact sheets, banners, etc. from Memphis CASA
  • A letter in support of your event or acknowledgement as an approved event
  • Thank you letters to all major sponsors
  • If available and when appropriate, a representative of Memphis CASA to attend or speak at your event
  • Consultation during the planning process

Hosts are responsible for the planning and implementation of the party, as well as covering party costs. Memphis CASA will credit party expenses as in-kind donations.

Hosts will set a fundraising goal and notify their guests in the invitation that the event is a fundraiser and the method of collecting funds (at the door; an ask during the party; in lieu of gift).

  • For example, a host might have a game night for twenty at a local bar, and invite guests to bring their check books for an ask during the party to reach a goal of $500.
  • A host could have a house warming for 50, with a request to make a donation in lieu of a gift, to reach a goal of $1,000.
  • Or a host might plan an elegant dinner party for ten, and ask for donations of $250 per person at the event, to reach a goal of $2500.

    It’s completely flexible!

Memphis CASA staff is available to help you determine your party’s goal. Guests will be able to pay by cash or check to CASA of Memphis. Memphis CASA will provide acknowledgements and receipts for tax purposes.

Host a Party!

Hosts will be asked to share sign-in sheets and any donations collected no later than one week after the party date.
