Stake Removal:
April 30, 2011, 9 am

Victorian Village Park, across from 616 Adams

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month every April, Memphis CASA erects the Light of Hope Awareness Project to bring attention to the issue of child abuse and the need for child advocates in our community. White stakes with blue ribbons attached are planted in Victorian Village Park, each stake representing a child who has been abused or neglected in Shelby County. This year, the annual "Stake Day," on which volunteers come out to the park to hammer in the stakes, will begin with a kick-off ceremony. After the ceremony, volunteers will plant over 3,000 stakes. The sea of white stakes stand throughout the month of April. We invite volunteers to come out again on April 30 at 9am to help us take down the stakes.

To volunteer for Stake Removal, call the CASA office at (901) 522-0200.

The Light of Hope Awareness Project will be

the first event of the many in our city in honor of

National Child Abuse Prevention Month this April.

Memphis CASA is a partner, along with several

other child-serving agencies, in the www.MemphisStopsChildAbuse.org

campaign to bring needed attention to the issue of child abuse in our city. www.MemphisStopsChildAbuse.org is a portal to all of the events happening

throughout April and a resource for learning how community members can

join the fight against child abuse.

This program is partially funded under an agreement with
the State of Tennessee and the City of Memphis.
